RAJOURI: On 14 Apr 1948, Rajouri was liberated
from the intruders who had infiltrated from Pakistan. In memory of this,
Rajouri Day is celebrated every year to pay homage to brave martyrs who laid
down their lives for liberation of Rajouri.
In the series of various events being organized to celebrate Rajouri Day
this year, Ace of Spades Division organized a Painting & Essay Competition
for school children of Rajouri on 11 April 2012 at Rane Hawai Patti, Rajouri
The aim of the competition was to
spread the feeling of National Integration, unity and the importance of town
cleanliness amongst the children on this day. Approximately, 250 children from
13 prominent schools of Rajouri participated in the event. The children were
grouped into two categories in each event based on their classes. The topics
for the Essay Writing Competition were ‘India
of My Dreams’ for class V to VIII students and ‘India- A Model of Unity In Diversity’ for class IX to XII
students. To ingrain and promote the importance of cleanliness amongst
children, the theme for painting competition was aptly chosen as ‘My Beautiful Rajouri’ and ‘Clean Rajouri ; Green Rajouri’.
The event provided a forum for the children
to display their talents and express their original ideas and feelings. The children participated in these events
enthusiastically and the teachers appreciated Army’s unstinted efforts in
organizing such events to bring normalcy in this region. The prizes for the winners of the events will
be given away by the Chief Guest during Rajouri Day Celebrations on 14 April
2012.
