SRINAGAR: Apropos to reports published in Greater Kashmir dated 07 Mar 2012,
regarding appeal of parents to Chinar Corps Commander for admission of
their children to class I in Army Public School (APS) Srinagar.
As per the newspaper reports parents have demanded that
all 57 civilian children studying in Chinar Saurya Pre School, Srinagar
should have been admitted in class I and written test should have been
conducted instead of a viva-voice.
It is clarified that Army Welfare Education Society
(AWES) rule position clearly stipulates the percentage of civilian
children who can be admitted in Army Public Schools. The admission to
Class I for APS Srinagar have been done in accordance with the laid down
guidelines.
It is pertinent to mention that Test for admission were
conducted and Merit list was accordingly prepared. It is also informed
that as per existing guidelines only viva-voice is applicable for lower
class admissions.
