SRINAGAR: “Computer Education for girls is an eminent and powerful tool that can bring about a change which covers many dimensions. It can facilitate and empower women, remove hurdles to their growth, enhance their contribution in technological fields ,make them more adapt in handling
technology, give them exposure to technological scenarios at national
and international level. The girls can look for research and educational
opportunities including prospects abroad, career advancement
facilities, job/ employment prospects outside state, in fields of art
and entertainment etc”.
This
was the message of GOC Victor Force while speaking on the occasion of
distribution of computer certificates to girls who have successfully
completed their courses being run under the aegis of army in South
Kashmir. He further congratulated them and said such educational
initiatives empowered them and put them on the path of progress. The
occasion was graced by Cdr 1 Sect RR, DC Anantnag amongst other civil
dignitaries.
The
Army has launched many initiatives towards educating the girls in cmptr
education in various districts and blocks of South Kashmir viz
Anantnag, Pulwama, Kupwara. Army in collaboration with civil
private/government computer educations centers has sponsored computer
education classes for more than 500 girls’ students. Army believes that
by computer education and the use of information and communication
technologies, women can broaden the scope of their actions and address
issues which were previously beyond their capacity.
While
speaking to couple of such girls who underwent such computer education
course they expressed their interest in acquiring technology mainly
computer knowledge as this gave them better job prospects and for most
of them this was their first exposure to computers. This achievement of
the girls gives a sense of elation & encouragement to them and
furthers bridges the bond between the awam and the government.

A great initiative taken. Until now, only males were considered for computer and technology field. Well such initiative clearly depicts how even girls are pursuing their career and taking interest in computer education.
