RAJOURI: An educational tour organised for children of far flung border areas of Poonch District under “Operation Sadbhavna” by a unit
of Romeo Force was flagged in by Maj Gen GS Shergill, GOC,
Counter Insurgency Force Romeo. The tour was
aptly named ‘KARWAN-E-AMAN’ as its aim was to spread the message of peace and bring
awareness about the educational and professional avenues available to the
students and to highlight them the rich cultural heritage of the country.
The
children visited Bhulbhuliya, Zoo, Dr
Din Dayal Upadhya Park, Science City and Chota and Bada Immamwada at Lucknow. During their visit to
Ramgarh, they visited The Sikh
Regimental Centre and thereafter these students were taken to Kolkata,
where they visited Hoogly and Howrah Bridge, Daknishwar Tample, Alipore
Zoo, Aquriam, Birla Planetarium and
Victoria Memorial. The tour after an eventful visit of Lucknow, Ramgarh and
Kolkata started for their next destination, Jammu.

The
successful completion of this tour has resulted in fostering closer
relationship between the locals and the Army. It has also developed a deep
sense of belonging to the national mainstream amongst these children of remote
areas. The enthusiasm and glow on the face of all children clearly showed that
they thoroughly enjoyed and learned from this unique experience. The parents of
children expressed their gratitude to the Army for providing this lifetime
opportunity to their children.
