KULHGAM: An
interactive meeting for the Sarpanches of North Lolab Valley with Brig
Ashok Abbey, AVSM, Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles was organized by
18 Rashtriya Rifles under aegis of 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and Kilo
Force at Kuligam on 11 Mar 2012.
The aim of the interaction with
Sarpanches of North Lolab was to bring to fore and address their genuine
concerns and local development issues, one to one with the senior
officers of the District and Police Administration. Mr Zahoor Wani,
Deputy Superintendant of Police, Sogam and Mr Haji Farooq, Block Member
of Congress, Khurhama attended the interaction.
The
interaction was chaired by Brigadier Ashok Abbey, AVSM, Commander 8
Sector Rashtriya Rifles. A total of 95 Sarpanches and ward members of
North Lolab Valley attended the meeting. While addressing the Sarpanches
of Lolab Valley, Brigadier Abbey implored them to share their genuine
grievances and concerns. Brigadier Abbey promised that all the
grievances of the remote areas would be addressed and local development
will be expedited. He also expressed his wholehearted wish for Lolab to
prosper as a tourist place.
The
Sarpanches expressed their gratitude to the Army for organizing this
meeting and requested for more such meetings to be held
frequently. Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles thanked all present for
sparing their time for the interaction. Thanking the Sarpanches for
attending the meeting, 18 Rashtriya Rifles assured all possible help
from the Army. The success of this interaction increases its bonhomie
with Awam and adds another page in the epic of Army’s goodwill
activities strengthening the motto of ‘Awam aur Jawan, Aman hai Muqam’.
