BARAMULLA: Valley
has been reeling under the pressure of intense cold wave recently. The
fresh snow fall has made matters worse as normal life has been badly
disrupted. While interacting with Awam, it was revealed that the
population, especially of rural areas were in dire need of medicines.
Keeping in view the inclement weather conditions and realising the
critical situation, a sudden urgency of extending the medical facilities
to the needy population was felt. Accordingly, Army organised a medical
camp in 19 Feb 2012 at Hathlangoo (Baramulla District) to assuage the
needs of villagers of adjoining areas.
The
camp was
undertaken as a relief measure for the local populace from the
harshness and severity of winters. The local populace attended the camp
and were provided medical consultations alongwith free medicines. The
patients included senior citizens, women folk and children in large
numbers.
Doctors from Army attended the camp and provided their
services. The opportunity was also utilised to distribute blankets to
the needy senior citizens. The effort undertaken by the Army on
organising the medical camp in such adverse conditions was widely
appreciated by the locals and civil administration.
