KISHTWAR: In a novel endeavour, a Rashtriya Rifle Battalion under aegis of Counter Insurgency Force Delta today flagged off a group of 25 Senior citizens from Kishtwar District at a function held at Kishtwar Helipad.  The tour is aimed at giving senior citizens an opportunity to witness the many facets of the country.  The tour would be going to Belgaum, Goa, Cochin and Delhi.

Army has worked out a detailed itinerary for them to ensure that they are able to make the best of the opportunity.  The group would be visiting the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre and the Commando Training Institution at Belgaum.  In Goa the senior citizens would have the unique opportunity to bask in the golden beaches and enjoy the sun and the sand.  In addition visit to the local Naval establishment has also been planed for the veterans.  The tour also includes visit to Cochin, where India’s largest Naval shipyard is located and the senior citizens would get an opportunity to witness first hand the prowess of the Indian Navy as well.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commander of the Rashtriya Rifles Sector complimented the senior citizens for their indomitable spirit and also the efforts being put in by the locals to thwart the nefarious designs of the militants in remote areas of Kishtwar. The flagging off ceremony was also attended by Mr Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Honorable MLA Kishtawar, Shri Mohd Hussain Malik, DC Kishtwar, Mr BS Tutti, SSP Kishtwar and many other prominent citizens of this hilly district.
