Army organizes tour for youth

RAJOURI: A Edn/ Motivational tour for children of Rajouri dist of J&K from Narian to Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong organised by a SIKH LI battalion under the aegis of ‘TITHWAL BRIGADE’  was flagged off by Cdr 163 Inf Bde from Narian on 04 Dec 2011.

The Carvaan-e- Aman as the tour is called, comprises of 23 children from remote areas of Rajouri Distt. The tour aims to increase awareness about the rich cultural heritage in other parts of the country, secular outlook and benefits of economic growth.

The youth would be visiting places of historical and cultural significance in Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong over a period of 15 days from 04 Dec to 18 Dec 2011. “I have never been beyond Jammu and am really excited to be going on the tour with my friends” said Mohd Farooq of Pukharni Village, a participant on the tour.

 Speaking on the occasion, Cdr 163 Inf Bde expressed hope that the tour would go a long way to motivate the youth of J&K to aspire for peace in the region.
