SRINAGAR: On
19 Feb 2012, a delegation consisting 29 school children and 04
teachers belonging to various schools of downtown Srinagar were given a
warm send off. Army sponsored the tour under Sadhbhavana.
The
delegation visited Amritsar, Patiala, Kapurthala and various other
places of interest in Punjab. Apart from sightseeing these school
children played friendly cricket matches with students of various
prominent schools in Punjab. They also met some high ranking officials
of the Indian Army and civil dignitaries during the visit.
The aim of
this tour was to make the students of the valley interact with students
and people of other parts of the country with a view to expose them
to the rich socio-cultural heritage of our country. This will also help
in widening their horizon and ushering them into the national
mainstream. This tour was organised by the 7 Rashtriya Rifles (PUNJAB)
on behalf of the Indian Army.
