UDHAMPUR: The Annual Northern Army Commander’s Invitational Golf Cup was played at the Dhruva Environmental Park & Training Area (DEPTA) Udhampur on 25 Mar 2012. HE The Governor of J&K Shri NN Vohra inaugurated the tournament by ‘Teeing -Off’ alongwith Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM,
UYSM, YSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command.
The trophy is rolling trophy, presently held with Dhruva Golf Club which were the winners of the Army Commanders Cup in 2010. Seven ‘four balls ‘ each, comprising of a combined team of Kashmir Golf
Club, Srinagar- Jammu & Kashmir Golf association played versus the combined Army & Air Force team. The event was played as Stableford over eighteen holes in accordance with the rules of “ The Royal and
Ancient Golf Course of St. Andrews” and local rules of Dhruva Golf Course, Udhampur. Best eight cards from these were considered to decide the winners.
Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command and Mrs Anagha Parnaik, Regional President , Central Welfare Organization distributed the prizes to the winners & Runners-up in
the various categories from Best Gross Score , Max No of Birdie, Longest Drive , Closet – To-Pin . A special ‘putting’ event was also conducted for the ladies. The event was attended by a host of Defence and civil dignitaries .
