INTERDISTRICT VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

SRINAGAR: Victor Force Inter District Volleyball Tournament organised under the aegis of 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles  by 13 Rashtriya Rifles (KUMAON) had commenced on 07 Feb 2012 onwards with 14 teams participating from 07 District of Victor Force (Anantnag, Badgam,Supian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal). 

Youths from around 50 villages participated in the overall tournament. The final match was played on 28 Feb 12 betweenPulwama-II and Ganderbal-I. In a very electrifying and thrilling match, players of Pulwama-II befittingly won the tournament. “It was a nail biting match till the last” said one of the spectator while another said “throughout it was an edge of the seat experience”. 

 

The tournament was aimed at developing a competitive spirit amongst the local youths and also to provide them a platform to showcase their talent. The matches were witnessed with keen interest by one and all and generated bonhomie amongst the villagers and troops stationed nearby. The event drew tremendous participation and enthusiasm from the locals.Major General Gurdeep Singh, AVSM, GOC  Victor Force gave away the prizes to the winner and runners up of the tournament. 

All the participating players were also given certificates and consolation prizes. Apart from senior Army officials­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ Brig Niraj Seth, Commander 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Brigadier  Shivender Singh, Commander  12 Sect Rashtriya Rifles, Mr M A Lone DC Bandipora, Mr B A Khan SP Bandipora and other prominent personalities of the participating villages attended the tournament. Khurshid Ahmed, one of the player of the participating teams remarked “13 Rashtriya Rifles (KUMAON) is doing a good service for the area by conducting such sports, with this exposure we too now can dream of participating in the district level matches”.
