HEROES OF NORTHERN COMMAND TO BE FELICITATED ON ARMY DAY 2012

AKHNOOR: Northern Command Investiture Ceremony 2012 is scheduled to be held on   15 January 2012 at Akhnoor on the occasion of the 63^rd Army Day. 

 

The Army Day is celebrated on 15 January every year to commemorate the assumption of appointment of the first Commander-in -Chief of the Indian Army by Lieutenant General (later Field Marshall) KM Kariappa. The occasion is also marked by presenting gallantry and distinguished service awards to deserving soldiers of the Indian Army.

Lt Gen KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command will present the coveted awards to seventy one serving Army personnel for displaying gallantry and distinguished service in performance of their duty. 

 

The Army Commander will also present the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command's Unit Appreciation to those units of Northern Command who have excelled in their operational duties. A large number of civil and military dignities are expected to attend the ceremony.
