URI: Kala Pahar Brigade had organised an educational
tour for girl students of Uri to Kolkata, Lucknow and Delhi from 23 Nov 2011 to
07 Dec 2011 as part of ‘SADBHAVANA’. A total of 20 girl
students in the age group of 14 to 20 years residing in the remote areas around
Uri, including 04 teachers, formed part of team.
The tour was
organised with the aim to aquaint the children with the diverse cultrual
heritage of our great nation.
During their visit to Kolkata, these children visited
famous historical places like Victoria Memorial, National Library and the
National Museum. The tour provided an opportunity to these young budding minds
to witness the dramatic growth and development being achieved in our country.
The children while at Lucknow visited Bara Imambara, Shah Najaf Imambara,
Lucknow Zoo, Kesar Bagh Palace, Roomi Darwaza, Dargah of Hazrat Abbas and other
places of tourist interest. At Delhi they visited Rashtrapati Bhavan,
Parliament House, Raj Ghat, India Gate, Red Fort, Jantar Mantar and Qutab
Minar. This visit has given the children an excellent exposure and insight into
the diversity of our country and will assist them in moulding their outlook
towards life.
On 07 December the tour was flagged in at Uri by
Commander, Kalapahar Brigade and the SDM, Uri. While addressing the children,
parents and prominent citizens of Uri, the distinguished speakers thanked the
Army for providing such an opportunity to the children of Uri and very strongly
recommended that such tours be organised regularly in future as well.
