UDHAMPUR: Under aegis of 7 Sector RR/ Kilo Force a National
Integration tour was organized by 6 RR Bn(SIKH) for ladies of Ramhal Block.
Often overlooked in routine tour projects, the unit took the onus to organize
this tour exclusively for ladies.
The tour comprised of twenty ladies from
different walks of life who had been carefully selected from over hundred
aspirants of Ramhal region. Tour was flagged off by Commander, 7 Sector
Rashtriya Rifles from Phorupet on 21st Nov 2011.
The participants
had the unique opportunity of having their breakfast with the CM of Delhi. They
also visited Rashtrapathi Bhavan. However an interaction with President was not
possible as she was out of station. They also witnessed the splendor of Mughal
Gardens.
The next destination of the tour
was Dehradun and the highlight was visit to IMA. They witnessed the rigors
young people undergo to make it to an officer in Indian Army. The tour of IMA
with its rich history and traditions was an eye opener to many. The tour
reached its final destination Amritsar on 29th and witnessed awe inspiring
spectacle of beating retreat at Wagah border. On 2nd Dec, the tour was flagged
in by Major General Ravi Thodge SM, VSM GOC CIF(K) on their return to
valley.
In addition, the tour visited
many important historical monuments like India Gate, Red Fort, Jamma Masjid,
Qutub Minar, Golden Temple and Jallian Walla Bagh. They also had a chance to
travel in the new Airport Express and enjoyed modern shopping experience at
City Walk mall. The tour was a splendid success and the participants departed
home full of memories which they will cherish.
