AKHNOOR: Troops from the Jourian Brigade of
the Indian Army organized a free Medical, Dental & Veterinary Camp at Govt
Higher Secondary School, Khour of Akhnoor Tehsil on 30 Dec 2011. Handing Over Ceremony of computers, furniture
items, books, sationery items & sports items for the benefit of schools was
also organised during the event.
The
free Medical, Dental and Veterinary Camp was inaugurated by Col Binda who took the
opportunity to reiterate the Indian Army’s pledge of continued support and
assistance to the masses.
The Medical Camp was conducted by 6
specialists from J&K Health Dept. In
addition 7 Army doctors included 1 dental
surgeons & 2 veterinary doctors. A
total of 650 patients and animals from far flung areas of the region were
provided free medical care.
The aim of the Camp was to spread
awareness about hygiene and healthcare so as to enable the people of Khour
Block to lead a healthy life as also to reiterate the Army’s promise of ‘Service before self’. The handing over ceremony of furniture and sports
items further bolsters the Army’s promise of its dedication in providing all
necessary assistance to the budding talent of remote areas for the upliftment
of school standards as well as providing a modern platform to the students to
enable them to compete with their urban counterparts. The Chief Guest also addressed the local
population including school teachers and students.
The school authorities and villagers
had requested Army for organising a free medical camp and provision of furniture
and sports items for the benefit of students.
Mr Kuldeep Rathor an eminent senior citizen and Executive Officer of
Khour Municipal Corporation appreciated the Army for its efforts in the social
upliftment of the society. The local
population wholeheartedly supported and participated in the Camp and requested
for more of such Camps in the near future also.
