RAJOURI: As part of welfare activities and
to ameliorate the problems of the Awwam, a medical camp was organised by Samote
Army unit under the aegis of Budhal Sector Headquarters at village Targain on
25 Nov 2011.
The camp witnessed an
unprecedented response from the populace with people even from far flung
villages attending the same. Prominent
members of civil administration including the Mr Baishakhi Ram, ZEPO Kotranka
and Mr Arsad, Patwari Samote also attended the camp.
Pregnant and lactating mothers
were educated about the benefits of breast feeding, Pre Natal Care and the care
of newborn babies. Necessary vaccination
was also carried out for the pregnant and lactating mothers and infant babies.
Besides, providing medical aid and distributing medicines, the team also
educated the villagers about hygienic living, preventive measures to avoid
contagious diseases and benefits of family planning. The locals were grateful to the Army for
organizing such a camp as being from a remote area of the region they do not
have the best medical facilities.
A
total 433 men, 609 women and 211 children benefited from the camp. Speaking on the occasion Haji Salam Din from
Targain said “We stay in slopes of remote terrains. The adequate medical
facilities for both men and livestocks are not available in our village, today
these facilities have been brought to our door step.
Our army is taking every
step for our progress and we are grateful to them for organising this camp”, Mr
Suleman Shah, teacher from Govt Middle School, Targain thanked the Army for
helping the poor & needy. Mr Kala
Khan, Sarpanch Targain during his speech also said “That Army has always been
present whenever the people required it”.
