ARMY ORGANISES COMPUTER EDUCATION FOR GIRLS


SRINAGAR: “Computer Education for girls is an eminent and powerful tool that can bring about a change which covers many dimensions. It can  facilitate and empower women,  remove hurdles to their growth, enhance their contribution in  technological fields ,make them more adapt in  handling technology, give them exposure to technological scenarios at national and international level. The girls can look for research and educational opportunities including prospects abroad, career advancement facilities, job/ employment prospects outside state, in fields of art and entertainment etc”.

This was the message of GOC Victor Force while speaking on the occasion of distribution of computer certificates to girls who have successfully completed their courses being run under the aegis of army in South Kashmir. He further congratulated them and said such educational initiatives empowered them and put them on the path of progress. The occasion was graced by Cdr 1 Sect RR, DC Anantnag amongst other civil dignitaries.

The Army has launched many initiatives towards educating the girls in cmptr education in various districts and blocks of South Kashmir viz Anantnag, Pulwama, Kupwara. Army in collaboration with civil private/government computer educations centers has sponsored computer education classes for more than 500 girls’ students. Army believes that by computer education and the use of information and communication technologies, women can broaden the scope of their actions and address issues which were previously beyond their capacity.

While speaking to couple of such girls who underwent such computer education course they expressed their interest in acquiring technology mainly computer knowledge as this gave them better job prospects and for most of them this was their first exposure to computers. This achievement of the girls gives a sense of elation & encouragement to them and furthers bridges the bond between the awam and the government.

A great initiative taken. Until now, only males were considered for computer and technology field. Well such initiative clearly depicts how even girls are pursuing their career and taking interest in computer education.
