‘KARWAN-E-AMAN’ EDUCATIONAL TOUR FLAGGED IN

RAJOURI:  An educational tour organised for children of  far flung border areas of Poonch District under “Operation Sadbhavna” by a unit of Romeo Force was flagged in by Maj Gen GS Shergill, GOC, Counter Insurgency Force Romeo. The tour was aptly named ‘KARWAN-E-AMAN’ as its aim was to spread the message of peace and bring awareness about the educational and professional avenues available to the students and to highlight them the rich cultural heritage of the country.

The children visited Bhulbhuliya, Zoo, Dr Din Dayal Upadhya Park, Science City and Chota and Bada Immamwada at Lucknow. During their visit to Ramgarh, they visited The Sikh Regimental Centre and thereafter these students were taken to Kolkata, where they visited Hoogly and Howrah Bridge, Daknishwar Tample, Alipore Zoo, Aquriam, Birla Planetarium and Victoria Memorial. The tour after an eventful visit of Lucknow, Ramgarh and Kolkata started for their next destination, Jammu.

Zafar Iqbal, a 17 yrs student of Sarswati Sewa Sadan School, Surankote and Mukhtar Ahmed, a 16 yrs student of National Public School, Daraba were very excited after the tour and said to the media that the event has given them an opportunity to have a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage and the progress and development made by our beloved country.

The successful completion of this tour has resulted in fostering closer relationship between the locals and the Army. It has also developed a deep sense of belonging to the national mainstream amongst these children of remote areas. The enthusiasm and glow on the face of all children clearly showed that they thoroughly enjoyed and learned from this unique experience. The parents of children expressed their gratitude to the Army for providing this lifetime opportunity to their children.
