ARMY ORGANISES INTERACTION WITH SARPANCHES IN LOLAB

LOLAB: A meeting for the Sarpanches of Lolab Valley and Kandi areas with Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara was organized by 28 Rashtriya Rifles at Gujjarpatti, Sogam on 31 Jan 2012. The aim of the interaction between Sarpanches of Lolab Valley and Kandi with Mr. Shafi Rather, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara was to bring to fore and address genuine concerns and local development issues of the area, one to one with the senior most officer of the District Administration. 
 
The interaction was chaired by Brigadier Ashok Abbey, Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles. A total of 73 Sarpanches of Lolab Valley and Kandi attended the meeting. While addressing the Sarpanches of Lolab Valley and Kandi, Brigadier Abbey implored them to share their genuine grievances and concerns with Mr. Shafi Rather in order to derive maximum benefit from the interaction.
 
Mr. Shafi Rather patiently heard the Sarpanches and addressed all the issues raised by them.  He further directed his staff to reach out to the local bodies and help them in resolving their grievances. Deputy Commissioner thanked Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and 28 Rashtriya Rifles for organizing the interaction, which he said was very fruitful as it helped him gauge their problems, first hand. 

The Sarpanches expressed their gratitude to the Army for organizing this meeting and requested for more such meetings to be held frequently.  Thanking the Sarpanches for attending the meeting, Commanding Officer, 28 Rashtriya Rifles assured all possible help from the Army.
