Inter school interaction programme at Pinewood School Hamirpur

HAMIRPUR: In consonance with the objectives of Operation Sadbhavana the Indian Army through their “Good Will Schools” has been making a sincere and dedicated effort to provide quality education and all round development to the children belonging to the under privileged sections of society in far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
In furtherance of this objective “Pine Wood School”, Hamirpur under the aegis of the Bhimber Gali Brigade organized an inter school sports and cultural festival from      29 Nov 11 to 02 Dec 11.  A number of local schools from Poonch and Rajouri district participated in the event.
The aim of the interaction programme was to foster a healthy environment of competition and encourage talent.  

Several sports events including basketball, volleyball, kabaddi and athletics alongwith cultural and literary events including recitation, essay writing, debate and painting competition were organised over a period of four days.

The event was well attended and generated a lot of enthusiasm.  The talent displayed by the children was of a very high standard and augurs well for the future. In addition to the students and their parents, Maj Gen KH Singh, General Officer Commanding ‘Ace of Spades Division’ alongwith a large number of military and civil dignitaries attended the closing ceremony on 02 Dec 2011. 

While giving away the prizes to the award winners, Maj Gen KH Singh, appreciated the spirit and enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to strive hard for a bright and successful future.
The civil dignitaries and local villagers expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing such an interaction programme which benefitted their children by enhancing overall personality development and outlook towards life.
