Army distributes swing machines among poor

LEH:  The Infantry Division 503 ASC Battallion today distributed sewing machines and packets of ration items among the local poor under the prestigious Operation Sadbhavana programme

A total number of 23 sewing machines and ration packets were distributed by Chief Guest Brig. Ajay Talwar Officiating GOC-3 Inf. Division . The guest of honour on the occasion was Executive Councilor CA & PD Gh. Abbas Abadi. The beneficiaries were from Egoo, Gya, Miru, Upshi, Phoktsey and Shey villages.

One set of Public Address System was also donated to Middle School Phuktsay on the occasion.  Prominent among others present on the occasion were Col. Brijesh Singh 3 Inf Div., Lt. Col S.K Singh Officiating CO 503 ASC Bn. Nambardar Egoo and many people including students of High School Egoo.  
             
Speaking on the occasion, Brig. Ajay Talwar urged upon the villagers to take maximum benefit from the sewing machines and sue these to generate income. He also stressed upon the students of the High School Egoo to work hard saying that they are the future of their village. 

The Executive Councilor CA&PD Gh. Abbas Abadi thanked the Army officers for giving sewing machines to the needy families. He said that Ladakh region is getting many benefits from Operation Sadbhavana progarmme since from its inception in year 2000. He said that many schools in Ladkah are benefiting immensely from the programmes of OP Sadbhavana and one of the major contributions of the programme is women empowerment in many villages. He said that besides guarding the borders from enemies, the Indian Army is very active in standardizing the livelihood of Ladakhi people.
   
The Councilor Egoo Tashi Norboo speaking on the occasion expressed his gratitude to army officers on behalf of the villages for giving sewing machines and other items and said that such kind of assistance from army is expected in future too.
