8th Rashtriya Rifles Biennial Conference

UDHAMPUR: Eighth Biennial Conference of Rashtriya Rifles was conducted at Nagrota under the aegis of Northern Command.  The event is being attended by senior Army officers and Rashtriya Rifles Commanders. Lt Gen Rameshwar Yadav, the Director General of Rashtriya Rifles, anchored the conference. 


The Northern Army Commander,    Lt Gen  KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM, addressed the conference and impressed upon all present to deal with the local populace with utmost compassion.  He emphasised the role of Rashtriya Rifles in marginalising militant through successful operations and winning the hearts and minds of the local population thereby contributing towards Nation building. 
 
The Rashtriya Rifles, a specialised and motivated counter terrorist force, came into  being in 1990.  Rashtriya Rifles follows the dictum of relentless operations with parallel people friendly activities and, over the years, has achieved spectacular results both in operations and winning the hearts and minds of the populace.

In order to assist population of J&K, the Rashtriya Rifles continuously undertakes civic action programmes aimed at area development, provisioning medical facilities, community development, education / vocational training and adventure cum personality development camps.  Most of the programmes have been organised for the population from remote areas / weaker sections of the society with the aim of restoring normalcy in state of J&K.
