ARMY ORGANISES AN INTERACTION WITH TEACHERS AND CHILDREN

KUPWARA: As part of ongoing effort of Army to reach out to people of remote areas, an interaction between teachers, students of far flung villages of Zarhama, Luderwan, Hundi, Kawari, Awra, Hiri and Army personnel was organised on 04 May 2012 by the Hajipir Brigade/ Vajr Division.  
 
More than 40 teachers and 250 children participated in the interaction which was presided over by Commander of Hajipir Brigade.  Commander highlighted the importance of as teachers turned them as pillars builders of the nation he further added that the future of the nation depends on good teachers and students.
 
 The interaction was organised to bring out the importance of quality education in shaping the future of the children and of the society.  The efforts of the Army in organising such events was appreciated by the teachers, students, parent of the student and locals of the area and one teacher, expressing his gratitude towards the Army said “ We thank the Army for organising such events and encouraging our children to shape their future towards a right direction”.  
 

ARMY IMPARTS ON THE JOB TRAINING TO YOUTH

RAJOURI:  In its endeavour to channelize resourceful energy of youth in constructive manner a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Romeo Force conducted a two week welding and machine cutting Cadre at Charlie TCP for unemployed youth hailing from village Saaj, Parore Gujran, Parore Brahmana, Pargal and adjoining area. The training got concluded today for ten youths. The aim of the training was to inculcate sufficient confidence so that the training imparted can be taken up as self employment option. Special focus was given on metal cutting, gas welding, cast iron welding and use of various machines for welding and cutting. 

PA Malik, Village Head, Pargal said that these kind of courses give opportunities to young section of society to set up their own small business and help them earn their livelihood leading to better financial status in the society.  Mr Parei, one of the participants thanked the army for having trained them and told that this was an excellent opportunity for them to learn new skills through first hand training and thereafter use this skill to supplement their income. People lauded the efforts of the Rashtriya Rifles unit in enabling and empowering the local youth through this training programme. This unique visionary and enduring enterprise was applauded by the district administration and the prominent citizens of this area as well.

IN SEARCH OF PEACE NOOR HUSSAIN LAYS DOWN HIS LIFE


UDHAMPUR: Sepoy Noor Hussain, Sena Medal was enrolled in the 159 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) (Home and Hearth) DOGRA on 14 Jan 2004. After undergoing the basic military training, the individual was deployed in Kishtwar District to assist the Rashtriya Rifles in conducting Counter  Terrorist operations. He operated in area Mugal Maidan, Chhatru, Keshwan, Palmar and Dul of Kishtwar District. Due to his sincere and meticulous efforts, Noor Hussain, had been effectively yielding actionable intelligence about the terrorists movement and their hideouts, caches etc. 

On 27 Oct 2007, Sepoy Noor Hussain provided a hard intelligence about the presence of two Hizbul Mujahedin terrorists at Tainar Forest, general area Chhatru, District Kishtwar and led the operation alongwith Rashtriya Rifles Battalion as a scout. Showing great determination, grit and least concerned to own personal safety  the individual eliminated two hardcore terrorists. The details of the eliminated terrorists are as under:-
(a)     Mohd Ashraf Bhatt @ Gaznavi s/o Ghulam Mohd Bhatt, r/o Bhatpura, Tehsil Commander of Hizbul Mujahedin Tanzeem.
(b)     Jaffar Hussain @ Abid @ Jaffar, s/o Nazeer Ahmed, r/o Narian of Hizbul Mujahedin Tanzeem.

Sepoy Noor Hussain was awarded the SENA MEDAL (GALLANTRY) on 15 August 2008 for the above act of bravery and meticulous planning.

Sepoy Noor Hussain, Sena Medal, also served in United Nations Mission at Lebanon with 2 DOGRA with effect from 14 November 2008 to 14 September 2009.

On the night of 02 May 2012, Sepoy Noor Hussain, Sena Medal provided intelligence about the presence of two hardcore terrorists, viz ; Shaqir Hussain @ Chhota Hafiz and Amir Ali Kamal @ Akram at Kul Gad, general area Palmar Forest and led the  Rashtriya Rifle column to the target area. While approaching the target area, the individual came under hostile fire and got seriously injured. Performing the duties of a brave, dedicated and motivated soldier he breathed his last at the spot.
Family Background
Sepoy Noor Hussain, Sena Medal, belongs to a poor family from a small village Palmar Rakna, a remote area of Kishtwar District. Details of his family are as under :-
          (a)     Father       - Sh Abdul Kabir, Age 65 years.
          (b)     Mother      - Mrs Mala Bagum, Age 57 years.
          (c)     Brother     - Nazir Ahmed, Age 28 years.
          (d)     Sisters :-
                   (i)      Amina Bagum,  Age 41 years.
                   (ii)      Nagina Bagum, Age 39 years.
                   (iii)     Farida Bagum, Age 36 years.
                   (iv)    Kulsoma Banoo, Age 22 years.
                   (e)     Wife  - Mst Tasena Bagum, Age 28 years.    
          (f)      Children :-
                   (i)       Miss Kusbho, Age 08 years.
                   (ii)      Miss Sheeza Akhter, Age 06 years.
                   (iii)     Miss Azra Kouser, Age 04 years.
                   (iv)    Miss Aksha Bano, Age 05 months.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Sepoy Noor Hussain’s sister marriage had been fixed on 15 May 2012.

AWES Day celebrated


NAGROTA: The 29th AWES DAY was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students and staff Members of Army Public School, Nagrota on 30th of Apr, 2012 to commemorate the raising of Army Welfare Education Society.

The AWES Day Celebration at APS, Nagrota commenced with the traditiaonal lighting of lamp by the chief Guest for the ceremony Col VK Menon (Offg Chairman) and a welcome song rendered by the students.  A vibrant and colorful cultural programme was presented thereafter.

The Dogri Dance highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Dogras of Jammu Province was applauded by one and all.  Prize distribution to the academic achievers of 10th & 12th were cheered on by all the students.  Various competitions such as Essay Writing, poster making, drawing competitions were also conducted during the AWES Day Celebration and all the achievers were acknowledged and appreciated.

The special edition of the school magazine “REFLECTIONS” 2011-2012 with the theme – “Aspire to Excel” was also released on this occasion. The vote of thanks was extended by the school Principal Ms. Rohini Rohit Gurung.

ROMEO FORCE ORGANISES TALK ON VETERINARY CARE

RAJOURI:  A talk on Veterinary care was organized by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Romeo Force at village Namblan, Dist-Rajouri(J&K). The aim of organizing this talk was to make farmers and locals aware about rearing and caring of their livestocks.  Dr Ashish Mahajan, Veterinary Asst Surgeon, Rajouri and an officer from Remount and veterinary Corps were called upon to deliver talks on Veterinary Care.  

Villagers turned up in large numbers from nearby villages viz, Namblan, Chiti Bakri, Ratti Matti and Nahrwali and got benefitted from the talk. The programme was informal in nature and adequate publicity and informative charts were displayed for information and education of local people.  Mr Mohd Sajad from Village Nahrwali told that the talks were very informative and implementable for better management and rearing of his livestocks.
