BANDIPURA: Kharpura Camp has been under occupation by security forces initially by BSF followed by CRPF and then by 14 RR Bn since Nov 2003.  The rent payment to the land owner of Kharpura Camp amounting Rs. 32, 19, 668/- was released by PDDE, Jammu after a prolonged persuations and coordination with concern Government authorities by 14 RR Bn. The rent outstanding for the period from Nov 2003 to Sep 2011 has now been released.  
In a function organised under the arrangements of 14 RR Bn at DC, Office Bandipura on  10 Mar 2012, the rent payment was disbursed to the concern land owners of Kharpura Camp by DC, Bandipura in the presence of Army authorities and civil adminstrative officials.
The land owner mostly of migrant pandits have received the payment after a prolonged waiting for many years.  The rent payment for the subsequent period will be paid the land owners through DC, Office Bandipura regularly as informed by Army authorities.

SRINAGAR: Intra Distt Football Tournament for the youth of Srinagar was conducted from  12 to 15 Mar 2012 by 7 Rashtriya Rifle (PUNJAB) under the aegis of 31 Sub Area. The aim of the tournament was to engage the youth and keep them gainfully employed.  

A total of eight teams from different areas of Srinagar District participated in the tournament and the matches were played on knockout basis. On 15 Mar 2012 the final match was played between MEF Public School, Srinagar and Army Public School, BB Cantt where MEF Public School emerged as the winner by defeating Army Public School, Srinagar with a margin of 5-3 goals. 

Brigadier Kuldip Singh, VSM*, Commander 31 Sub Area congratulated the winning team and awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000/- to winners and  Rs 5,000/- to runners up along with a trophy.


NAGROTA: General VK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, ADC, Chief of the Army Staff visited the Headquarters of White Knight Corps today. On arrival at Nagrota, General Singh was received by Lieutenant General KT Parnaik, UVSM, YSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command and Lieutenant General AS Nandal, AVSM, SM, GOC White Knight Corps.   

The COAS was briefed on the prevailing security situation South of Pir Panjal Ranges in J&K. The Chief expressed his satisfaction over the reduction in terrorist infiltration.   Explaining the present environment, the General said that troops should not become complacent as we are yet to see the end of terrorism in J&K. He said that there was a need to remain vigilant and prepared at all times.  

In a special sainik sammelan held on the occasion, the Chief addressed the officers and men of the White Knight Corps and outlined the priority areas of the Indian Army. The General also spoke about the steps being taken towards transformation of the Army to make it operationally and logistically more efficient. 
The Chief informed the men about various measures initiated for their welfare in the recent times. He said that long overdue improvements have been made in the ration and clothing of jawans. The process for removal of anomalies in the 6th pay commission has also been initiated.  
 The General underlined the need for all ranks of the Army to always maintain high moral values and to live by the principles which are traditionally identified with the Army. Later, the Chief shared a cup of tea with jawans. The Army Chief returned to New Delhi in the afternoon.


JAMMU: The Rashtriya Rifles Unit located at Dharmund under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force Delta has taken up a noble project under ‘Operation Sadhbhavana’ for provision of furniture and blackboards for the needy students of Upper Primary School, Rakhjurg. This will go a long way in meeting the aspirations of the students by way of much needed infrastructure and provide a better educational environment and facilities for staff and students.

The items were handed over to the school in a simple ceremony which was followed by distribution of stationery to the students. Principal of the school whole heartedly thanked Army for their support and hoped that such facilities will motivate the students to work harder and do well in studies.
