KISHTWAR: A Sector Rashtriya Rifles is deployed in District -Kishtwar. Remoteness of the area and ongoing militancy has adversely affected the overall development of Kishtwar region.  Basic amenities and infrastructure is severely lacking in this area.  The Rashtriya Rifles sector which is deployed in Kishtwar has undertaken several welfare and humanitarian missions.  In order to inculcate a sense of belonging and bring national integration amongst the children residing in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir, an educational/motivational tour is being undertaken under Operation Sadbhavana.
23 students belonging to remote and far flung villages from the district of Kishtwar along with two teachers are being taken to Delhi, Agra & Chandigarh on an educational cum motivation tour from 12 Feb 2012 to 21 Feb 2012.   During the tour the children would be introduced to the rich tradition, heritage and culture in other parts of the country.  The visit would go a long way in aligning the young and innocent children with the national mainstream.

Commander of Headquarter Sector Rashtriya Rifles while flagging off the tour on 11 Feb 2012 from Kishtwar expressed hope that the tour will have a positive impact on these young impressionable minds and will motivate them to excel in life.


DORU: A medical camp was organised by 36 Rashtriya Rifles (Garhwal Rifles) under the aegis of Headquarters 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles at Larikpur (Doru) in South Kashmir with assistance from the civil medical authorities on 11 February 2012.  Aim of the medical camp was to provide special medical care to the villagers in the far-flung areas right at their door step.   
Through close liaison with the Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag, the camp was conducted by a team of 10 civil doctors including Physician, Surgeon, Gynecologist, Pediatrician, Ophthalmologist, ENT specialist Dermatologist, Dentist and two lady doctors.  A total of two doctors from Army also provided medical assistance at the medical camp.

The medical camp was inaugurated by village elder.  While addressing the media and locals, Brigadier Sanjay Gupta, Commander 2 Sector RR said that Army will continue to conduct such medical camps for the people of remote areas of Kashmir Valley as also other development programs to bring normalcy and induce confidence among the local populace in Army and in the civil administration.  

The medical camp received an overwhelming response from the local population.  The medical camp was a huge success, as a total of 3115 patients of all age groups including women and children were attended by a team of civil & military doctors.  Large quantity of medicines were distributed free of cost at the camp.  The people expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for this humane gesture of the Army in fulfilling basic medical needs of the populace.


UDHAMPUR: After the grand opening of Jammu Premier League, Tawi Cup 2012 at  Subhash Stadium, Udhampur  by the Hon’ble minister for Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports and Medical Education, Mr Rajendra Singh Chib and attended by various high ranking civil and military dignitaries,  two matches were played during the day.

The first match of the day was played between United Cricket Club  (UCC) and Tiger Cricket Club (TCC) which went to the wire wherein United Cricket Club won the match by 09 runs. The highlights included a thirty three runs haul by Raman Abrol (UCC) and thirty five runs scored by Azam Khan (TCC). Sunil Sharma (UCC) was declared as the “Man of the match”.

The second match was played between Swami Vivekananda Cricket Club
(SWCC) and Jupiter Cricket Club (JCC). The match was won by JCC. The main attraction of the match included the first hatrick of the tournament  by Deep Kumar (JCC) and thirty six runs by Ravi (JCC). Deep Kumar(JCC) was declared as the ,”Man of the match”  for his splendid bowling display.

Third match of the tournament was played between Singh cricket Club
(SCC) and Five star Cricket Club (FSCC) on 11 Feb 2012. Five Star Cricket Club emerged victorious by 08 wickets. Highlights of the match
included a five wickets haul for 10 runs by Naresh Kumar Sharma (FSCC) who was declared as the “Man of the match”.
