ARMY ORGANISES FREE MEDICAL CAMP AND PROVIDES FURNITURE AND SPORTS ITEMS TO SCHOOLS IN KHOUR

AKHNOOR: Troops from the Jourian Brigade of the Indian Army organized a free Medical, Dental & Veterinary Camp at Govt Higher Secondary School, Khour of Akhnoor Tehsil on 30 Dec 2011.  Handing Over Ceremony of computers, furniture items, books, sationery items & sports items for the benefit of schools was also organised during the event.   
 
The free Medical, Dental and Veterinary Camp was inaugurated by Col Binda who took the opportunity to reiterate the Indian Army’s pledge of continued support and assistance to the masses. 

ARMY ORGANISES VETERINARY CAMP AT SANGLA

 SURANKOTE: A large population of Poonch district lives in far-flung and remote villages, the main source of income for them is from their livestocks.  Meagre income & lack of basic veterinary facilities have often led to loss of their livestocks thereby aggravating the problems of the folks.

In order to over come the difficulties faced by the poor, a Rashtriya Rifles made an endeavorer to reach out to the poor people in this remote area by organizing a veterinary camp on 30 Dec 2011 at Sangla next to Pamrot Bridge.  05 Veterinary Doctors, 01 Army Veterinary Doctor and 03 Veterinary Assistant attended to a large number of livestock at the camp.

MEDICAL CAMP AT BALNOI, ORGANISED UNDER OPERATION SADBHAVANA

JAMMU: A Medical Camp was organised at Balnoi on  29 December 2011 under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Bde, Balnoi Battalion and 425 Field Hospital.

Free medical checkup and dental checkup of the villagers was conducted during the camp.  Medicines were also distributed free of cost. 

ARMY COMMANDER VISITS TROOPS ON LINE OF CONTROL

BARAMULLA: Lt Gen KT Parnaik, UYSM, YSM, Army Commander Northern Command  visited the Valley from 28-29 December 11.  On arrival at Badami Bagh Cantonment, he was received by GOC, Chinar Corps, Lt Gen SA Hasnain and was briefed in detail on security related issues to include strategy for the ongoing winter season and summer of 2012.  

The Army Commander accompanied by GOC, Chinar Corps visited troops on the Line of Control in the Baramula Sector on 29 December.

ARMY DISTRIBUTES FURNITURE TO GOVT MIDDLE SCHOOL, THELA CHAPPER

RAJOURI:  In an endeavour to provide an impetus to education facilities in far flung areas, Army distributed furniture items to Government Middle School, Thela Chapper. The furniture items were distributed by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote under the aegis of Uniform Force as part of the ‘Sadbhavana’ activities. 

MOTIVATIONAL TOUR FOR DISABLED PERSONS DELHI, AGRA AND JAIPUR RETURNS

POONCH: Carrying forward the spirit of ‘Op Sadbhavana’ to undertake projects by the Indian Army reach out to the common people of the far-flung areas, 17 JAK LI (Striking Seventeen) under the aegis of Poonch Brigade of Ace of Spade Division organised  Motivational tour for disabled persons of Poonch to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. 

The tour was ‘Flagged off’ by Brigadier MK Mago, Sena Medal, and Commander Poonch Brigade on 15 Dec 2011. The tour comprising of forty disabled persons, attendants and conducting staff of Poonch was conducted for 12 days.

STUDENTS OF DRONA BOYS HOSTEL, UDHAMPUR SET OUT TO VISIT UTTAR PRADESH

UDHAMPUR: In the series of OP Sadbhavana venture conducted by the Army, an educational cum-motivational tour has been organized for Drona Boys Hostel from Udhampur to Uttar Pradesh under the aegis of HQ Northern Comd.  The tour was flagged off on 24 Dec 2011 by Maj Gen A K Sehgal, GOC 71 Sub Area.

ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL UDHAMPUR CELEBRATES ANNUAL DAY

UDHAMPUR: The Sr and Jr Wing of APS Udhampur celebrated its annual day in its school auditorium with great pomp and show.  The extra rangaranga depicted the theme of Incredible India and expressed the journey of India right from the vedic times to the modern times.  
 
GOC, 71 Sub Area, Maj Gen AK Sehgal was the Chief Guest on occasion and inaugurated the celebration with the lighting of the lamp.  The Principal, Mr Vinod Joseph read out the school report highlighting the achievements of the school in the academic year 2010-11.  
 

DISTRIBUTION OF COMPUTERS AND SCHOOL FURNITURE TO SCHOOL UNDER OPERATION SADBHAVANA

KHOUR: The joy and enthusiasm was perceptibly visible on the faces of the students from remote areas of Akhnoor sub Division on receiving the computers, school furniture and other basic amenities via Army.
              
A Unit of Bawan Brigade under the aegis of the Crossed Swords Division distributed computers, school furniture and other basic amenities to Govt Middle School Bararoh which was widely acclaimed by the school authorities and the locals alike.

ARMY PROVIDES COMPUTER AND FURNITURES TO FOUR SCHOOLS OF NAUSHERA

NAUSHERA: Tithwal Brigade distributed computers and classroom furniture to schools of villages Rani, Quila Drahal, Laroka and Rajpur Kamila situated near the Line of Control in Naushera on 23 Dec 2011.  The distribution ceremony was conducted at Rajpur Kamila in which more than 500 students benefitted from the initiative. Computers with UPS, computer table and chairs and various educational CDs were also distributed.

JAG DEPARTMENT (ARMY) CELEBRATES 28TH CORPS DAY

UDHAMPUR: Its origin and evolution is closely linked with the evolution of military law in England and can be traced back to the British “Articles of War – 1385’.   

After the Great Revolution of 1688, suitable enactments which were needed to be made by the British Parliament from time to time for proper governance of Standing Army and Courts Martial that formerly derived authority exclusively from the Crown, received Statutory recognition for the first time in the “Articles of War – 1765”.  

ARMY ORGANISES TOUR FOR GIRLS OF MENDHAR AND CHHATRAL

RAJOURI: A group of 23 girls from Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Mendhar and Chhatral accompanied by two lady teachers are proceeding on a Educational and Motivational tour to Jallandhar, Chandigarh and Dehradun for a period of 10 days. 
 
The tour for these energetic and intelligent girls is being organized by Counter Insurgency Force Romeo. The children are carrying the message of “Unity in Diversity” to their brethren in other parts of India.  This for the first time that girls from these schools are proceeding on an exclusive tour for girls. 

Army organises seminar on Human Rights

AKHNOOR: A Human Rights Seminar was conducted under the aegis of White Knight Corps on 20-21 December 11 at Sangha Auditorium in Akhnoor. 

The Seminar comprised of three sessions of which first two sessions were held on 20 Dec 11 and the third session was held on 21 Dec 11. 

The seminar was attended by an audience of approximately 350 Army Officers, 45 PMF Officers, 16 IAS Probationers & 250 students of schools & colleges.

RAJOURI CHILDREN RETURN AFTER PLAYING WITH SAURAV GANGULI XI

RAJOURI: An educational tour named ‘Carvaan-e-Aman’ comprising 23 students from remote areas of Rajouri District was conducted by 7 SIKH LI of ‘TITHWAL BRIGADE’ from   04 Dec to 18 Dec 2011. The tour was flagged in by Commander,‘TITHWAL BRIGADE’ at Narian on 19 Dec 2011.

The school children visited Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong. At Kolkata they visited Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium and the Indian Museum. One of the highlights of the stay at Kolkata was interaction with Saurav Ganguly and a friendly cricket match against Ganguly’s Videocon School of Cricket XI at Salt Lake.

47 RASHTRIYA RIFLES (BIHAR) ORGANIZES WATAN - KI - SAIR

KUPWARA: Exposure to the areas outside Jammu and Kashmir has helped the Senior Citizens of Jammu and Kashmir in appreciating the importance of national integration & unity in diversity in the country. 
 
With this good intention twenty eight Senior Citizens with four soldiers from 47 Rashtriya Rifles (BIHAR) area of responsibility visited Karnal Agriculture Farm and Dairy Farm & Hissar AgricultureUniversity, Stud Farm & Cattle Development Centre etc  from 06 Dec 2011 to 17 Dec 2011. 
 

40th ANNIVERSARY OF MARTYRDOM OF FLYING OFFICER NIRMAL JIT SINGH SEKHON, PARAM VIR CHAKRA

SRINAGAR: To commemorate 40th anniversary of martyrdom of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, Param Vir Chakra, in defence of Srinagar, several ceremonies were held at Air Force Station, Srinagar. 

The saga of indomitable courage, valour and determination has inspired generations of Indian Air Force personnel. During 1971 war with Pakistan, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon and his colleagues fought successive waves of intruding Pakistani aircraft  with valour and determination.

46 RR organize ‘trekking expedition' for students in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: After organizing various educational tours 46 Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of the Dagger Division, organized a ‘Trekking Expedition’ to attract young school children towards trekking and train them basic techniques of trekking, camping and outdoor survival in Baramulla.

Organizer of ‘Trekking Expedition’ Officiating Commanding Officer 46 RR, Major Sandeep Azad said that the trekking expedition was sponsored by INTACH- J & K Chapter in which 13 Students and   2 teachers participated.

CHINAR CORPS CELEBRATES VIJAY DIWAS

SRINAGAR: In it’s true tradition of remembering the heroes and martyrs, the Army celebrated the 40th Anniversary of its victory during the 1971 war.  In a solemn yet impressive ceremony attended by a large number of Army persons,  Lt Gen SA Hasnain, GOC Chinar Corps paid obeisance to the martyrs by laying wreath at the war memorial in Badami Bagh Cantonment.
 
 The 16th of December every year is celebrated as ‘Vijay Diwas’ and commemorates the Indian Army’s victory in the 1971 war.  GOC Chinar Corps while speaking on the occasion recounted the sacrifices made and the glories achieved by the Chinar Corps.

ACE OF SPADE DIVISION CELEBRATIONS VIJAY DIWAS

UDHAMPUR: To celebrate the Indian Victory over Pakistan and independence of Bangladesh in 1971 War, 16 Dec is celebrated as Vijay Diwas. The celebration also commemorates the supreme sacrifice made by our brave soldiers and people of Bangladesh during the operations. 

To pay homage to the martyrs and the everlasting spirit, wreath laying ceremonies were organised today at Ace of Spade Division. Army officers, personnel led by Maj Gen KH Singh paid homage to the martyrs at the war memorial at Prayer Hill. 
 

700 YOUTH TAKE PART IN NAOSHERA MARATHON

NAOSHERA: More than 700 youth jubilantly participated in three categories of Naoshera Marathan which was organised by the Army to celebrate the Vijay Diwas  today.

Rakhee Kumar of Naunial village won the 14 Km race, Raj Kumar of Daryala won in 10 Km  category and Karamjit Singh emerged winner in 5 Km race (under 16 yrs) category.
 
To celebrate the Indian Victory over Pakistan and independence of Bangladesh in 1971 War, 16 Dec is celebrated as Vijay Diwas. The valiant Army and Civil comrades fought together to free the oppressed people of Bangladesh from the clutches of Pakistan.   
 

NORTHERN COMMAND CELEBRATES VIJAY DIWAS

UDHAMPUR: The 40th Anniversary of “Vijay Diwas” was celebrated on 16 Dec 2011 in  Northern Command with traditional enthusiasm. A large number of service personnel participated in the celebrations and paid homage to the   men-in-uniform who sacrificed their lives while defending the motherland during the Indo Pak War of 1971.

The Indian Armed Forces celebrate 16 December each year as VIJAY DIWAS to commemorate their historic victory over the Pakistani Forces. The swift multi pronged operations professionally planned and executed by the Indian Armed Forces led to one of the greatest military victories recorded in the annals of history.

AIR CHIEF INSPECTS AIR FORCE STATIONS CHABUA AND TEZPUR

TEZPUR: During his three day tour to the North East Region from 12-14 Dec 2011 with first visit to the Eastern Air Command Head Quarters at Shillong, the subsequent two days, saw Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne visit the airbases Chabua and Tezpur to oversee the development of SU-30 infrastructure at the two bases.  

He visited the local units and important installations of the two bases and interacted with Squadron pilots and engineers besides all the station personnel and key appointments. At Tezpur Lieutenant General Shakti Gurung, General Officer Commanding 4 Corps also met the Air Chief.

ARMY ORGANISES VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

NOWSHERA: Tithwal Brigade today organised an Inter Village Volleyball Championship at village Bhowani for the villagers of border area of Nowshera.  Youth from 25 villages participated in the Championship.

LIGHT VEHICLE MAINTENANCE CADRE FOR YOUTH

RAJOURI:  Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force Romeo conducted a light vehicle maintenance cadre from 05 to 10 December 2011 for the youths of Bafliaz block at Daraba in Surankote Tehsil.

A total of forty three youths from village Daraba, Chandimar and Marah of Pir Panjal Ranges concentrated with full enthusiasm to learn.   

ARMY ORGANISES “KNOW YOUR ARMY” EXHIBITION

NOWSHERA: As part of the ongoing celebration of 40th Anniversary of “Vijay Diwas Week”, Tithwal Brigade today organised a function at Nowshera which comprised a memorial service, in the memory  of martyrs “Know Your Army” exhibition and singing competition for children.
 
The event commenced with paying homage to martyrs, the real heroes of the war, at the Memorial near Jhangar Chowk, followed by a “Know Your Army” exhibition with display of weapons and a presentation was thrilled .

ARMY IMPROVES INFRASTRUCTURE FOR 900 STUDENTS

NAUSHERA:  In an initiative to improve infrastructure of local schools in remote border areas of Rajouri District ‘ Tithwal Brigade’ distributed benches, black boards, almirahs, tables and chairs to  nine schools at Bagla, Nadiala, Richwa, Kalakot, Thandi Kasi, Kotli, Duranigalla, Andrut and Naogiran. 
The distribution ceremonies were conducted at Nadiala, Duranigalla and Andrut over a period of four days.  More than 900 children have benefited from this initiative of ‘Tithwal Brigade’. 

ARMY ORGANIZES MEDICAL CAMP

BISALI: As part of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate the 40th anniversary of ‘Vijay Diwas’, Tithwal Brigade organised a Medical Camp on 12 Dec 11 at village Bisali in Naushera tehsil.  The Medical Camp was a part of a plethora of other activities being organised by the Tithwal Brigade to commemorate the occasion in remote border areas.

FAUJI MELA IN MENDHAR

MENDHAR: The Mendhar Battalion under the aegis of Bhimber Gali Brigade organized an Army Mela at OP Hill Stadium, Mendhar. This mega event was held to honor the ex-servicemen of the region and for the local populace to create awareness about the Army.

SRINAGAR: Media is playing a very crucial and important role in the Valley and Army has always supported their positive and truthful reporting.  In order to further strengthen and remove any functional irritants a media interaction was conducted at Badami Bagh Cantonment on 12 Dec 11.  This interactive session was the first in the series of interaction planned over next one month.

GOVERNOR FELICITATES ARMY VENTURE

JAMMU: His Excellency, Shri NN Vohra, Governor, Jammu & Kashmir today presented prizes to three school students who were members of the ‘Aman Jyoti Yatra’ organised by Rajouri based Ace of Spades Division from 20 to 26 Apr this year. The Aman Jyoti Yatra was organised to integrate the youth of border regions into the main stream of society in which 40 youth from Poonch, Rajouri and Nowshera participated. 

ARMY LENDS HELPING HAND FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

RAJOURI:  A Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Tithwal Brigade organized a Medical and Veterinary Camp on 10 Dec 2011 in village Bhajnowa and Gugrot of Rajouri District as part of ‘Vijay Diwas’ celebrations.  During the the camp free medicines were given to the patients.

ARMY TRAINS YOUTH FOR JOINING FORCES

RAJOURI: The return of peace in the remote border districts of Rajouri and Poonch has brought in winds of change, promising lasting peace and stability thereby opening new avenues for development and prosperity.  Following the policy of ‘Indian Army of the People, For the People, By the People’, Counter Insurgency Force Romeo launched yet another people friendly initiative to train and guide eligible, aspiring and volunteer youth of the area for recruitment into the armed forces.  Aim of this training was to prepare, guide and train the youth under close supervision of qualified army instructors for recruitment rallies scheduled in near future.

52 RASHTRIYA RIFLES ORGANISES EX SERVICEMEN RALLY

BARAMULLA: An Ex-servicemen rally was organised by 52 Rashtriya Rifles at Uplona (Baramulla) on 15 Sep 11.  The aim of the rally was to interact with the Ex-servicemen and Veer Naris of the area as also to disseminate important information pertaining to them issued from time to time by Central and State Government agencies/offices.   

Stalls/info booths of CHS, ZSWO, J&K Bank, SBI, HDFC, DPDO and Army Recruiting Offices were established at the rally site to provide information/assistance on various issues of interest including employment opportunities.

ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL UDHAMPUR ORGANISES FETE- CUM-EXHIBITION

UDHAMPUR: The Senior Wing of Army Public School, Udhampur orgainsed a one day fete- cum-exhibition (Science, Social Science, Maths and Art) on 09th Dec 2011 at the school play ground.  

Mrs Anagha Parnaik, Regional President AWWA, Northern Command was the Chief guest on the occasion. The Function was also attended by Maj Gen NP Gadkari, Chairman of the school and a host of Senior Defence and civilian officials.

ARMY ESTABLISHES YOUTH GUIDANCE NODE AT BONIYAR

RAJOURI: A Youth Guidance Node (YGN) has been established at Army Goodwill School Boniyar on 09 Dec 2011. YGN will facilitate the local youth to choose and select from the various employment opportunities available. The YGN will also facilitate them on choosing various avenues available for pursuing higher studies at various institutions located all over India.  The facilities available at YGN will facilitate the local Awam who are ignorant of vast opportunities available because of their isolation and lack of proper infrastructure at their places of dwelling.

SECURITY SITUATION REVIEWED DURING CORE GROUP MEETING AT NAGROTA

NAGROTA: A Core Group Meeting was held at Headquarters of White Knight Corps, at Nagrota today to review the security situation in Jammu region.  The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General AS Nandal, AVSM, SM, the Security Advisor to J&K Govt for Jammu Region and General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps.  Present in the meeting alongwith Lieutenant General Nandal were DGP (J&K) Dr Kuldeep Khoda and other seinor Army, Police and Civil Administration officials.  
 

ARMY SERVICE CORPS CELEBRATES 251ST CORPS DAY

UDHAMPUR: Army Service Corps (ASC) celebrated its 251st Corps  Day at HQ Northern Command on 08 Dec 2011. While the history of  supply and transport  services is as old as the history of organised  warfare itself, it was in the year 1760  that the very rudimentary Supply & Transport organizations of the three  Presidencies of  the East India Company were brought under the council of a single authority. However, on 8th of  Dec 1950, the word  ‘Royal’ was dropped and eversince the Corps celebrates its  raising on this Day.

Flag Day observed by BSF School

JAMMU: Armed forces Flag Day was observed by BSF School Paloura here today.  The National Cadet Crops (NCC) troops of the institution put their efforts to collect maximum donation by distributing flags.
 
Dr SS Khokher, Principal BSF school started the donation and make aware about the distribution by contributing the amount. He said that the amount students collect will benefits the families of soldiers killed or disabled during wars or any other operations while performing their duties.

JAMMU:  A group of 24 students from the various schools of Baramulla district, back from their visit to different places of historical and cultural importance in Chandigarh, Dehradun and Mussoorie, met Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and shared with him their experiences during this tour. The students were accompanied by three of their teachers and the Army officers who had been with them on the tour. 

SADBHAVANA TOUR FOR STUDENTS OF URI BY KALAPAHAR BRIGADE

URI: Kala Pahar Brigade had organised an educational tour for girl students of Uri to Kolkata, Lucknow and Delhi from 23 Nov 2011 to 07 Dec 2011 as part of ‘SADBHAVANA’.  A total of 20 girl students in the age group of 14 to 20 years residing in the remote areas around Uri, including 04  teachers, formed part of team.
 

VIST OF STUDENTS OF AGPS, PAHALGAM TO JAMMU, DELHI, MUMBAI & PUNE

SRINAGAR: Victor Force under Sadhbhavana organised a 13 days sight seeing and education tour to Jammu, Delhi, Mumbai & Pune for a total of 35 students from AGPS, Pahalgam.  The tour was flagged off from Aishmuqam on 22 Nov 11.  

ROMEO FORCE ORGANISES QUIZ COMPETITION

MANJAKOTE:    A quiz competition for school children was organised by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force, Romeo at Government High School, Sahadra Sharif.  Children from 11 schools from remote and far flung areas of Sahadra Sharif, Rajdhani and Shruwala participated in the event.   

The function was inaugurated by Officiating Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles who in his speech exhorted that “General Knowledge and Intelligence is key to success”.

BHARAT DARSHAN TOUR FLAGGED OFF

KUPWARA: In order to give exposure of shining India to the elders of the backward areas of Magam, Nagri, Kandi, Keegam and Drugmulla of Kupwara District, 47 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (BIHAR) under the aegis of Headquarters 8 Sector  Rashtriya Rifles/Kilo Force is organizing a twelve days Bharat Darshan tour under Sadbhavna.

Educational Tour under Operation Sadhbhavana

RAMBAN: An educational tour named `SAFAR-E-GULISTAN’ had been organised by Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) for the children hailing from insurgency affected areas of Ramban district.  The tour was organised by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion as part of `Operation Sadhbhavana’ and conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Delta).  23 students and 02 teachers are part of the tour, which will be going to Mumbai, Pune and Nasik.  
 

Chhamb Battle Heroes remembered at Akhnoor War Memorial

AKHNOOR: The war heroes of Chhamb Battle of 1971 were remembered and paid obeisance in a simple yet befitting manner on 05 Dec at Chhamb War Memorial, Akhnoor under the agies of Cross Sword Division.  The memorial service was conducted to commemorate the sacrifices made by brave soldiers of 5th Battalion, The SIKH Regiment during 1971 Indo-Pak War.  

Free Medical camp by Army at village Bani Batoli

 BHADARWAH: As part of WHAM & civic action initiatives, 4 RR has been constantly undertaking variety of projects for the welfare of Bhadarwah.  Under the initiative planned by Army to achieve better bond with local administration and local populace, a medical camp was organised at village Bani Batoli in Bhadarwah on 05 Dec11. 
 

Driving training cadre inaugurated at Talwara

REASI: A Driving Cadre for the local youth was inaugurated by Commanding Officer Rashtriya Rifles at District Reasi on 05 Dec 2011. In order to provide basic vocational training for furthering career prospects of youth, Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Sarh, Tehsil Mahore, Distt Reasi under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles garrison at Mahore has commenced a driving training cadre at  Talwara from  05 Dec 2011 to 25 Dec 2011.

Keri Battalion organises medical camp

RAJOURI: A Medical camp was organized at village Keri, Distt - Rajouri (J&K) from  02 Dec 2011 to 04 Dec 2011 under the aegis of Keri Battalion as a part of Operation Sadbhavana.  Nearly 800 people from neighbouring villages were benefited from the camp, which had the services of Medical Specialist, Physician, Surgeon, Gynaecologist, Paediatrician and Dentist. 

Army organizes ex-servicemen rally in Kulgam

SRINAGAR:  Army on Sunday organized ex-servicemen rally Wuzur Kulgam. According to a defence communiqué the Rally was aimed to address the issues of interest to the ex-servicemen including redressal of their grievances and benefits of ECHS. “The rally also provided a platform to project their issues and act as a window to address their genuine concerns. Approximately 250 ESM attended the event,” it added.

Army organizes tour for youth

RAJOURI: A Edn/ Motivational tour for children of Rajouri dist of J&K from Narian to Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong organised by a SIKH LI battalion under the aegis of ‘TITHWAL BRIGADE’  was flagged off by Cdr 163 Inf Bde from Narian on 04 Dec 2011.

The Carvaan-e- Aman as the tour is called, comprises of 23 children from remote areas of Rajouri Distt. The tour aims to increase awareness about the rich cultural heritage in other parts of the country, secular outlook and benefits of economic growth.

Army distributes books, computers among students

AKHNOOR: A ceremony was conducted by Indian Army under OP SADBHAVANA at Govt Higher Secondary School, Khour in Akhnoor tehsil to distribute educational, motivational, historical books and computers with workstation to various schools of Khour Block.  
The Army once again took the opportunity to reiterate its pledge of providing continued support, guidance and assistance to the students.  The Army also motivated the youth who were present during the ceremony and encouraged them to join the Indian Army. 

Inter school interaction programme at Pinewood School Hamirpur

HAMIRPUR: In consonance with the objectives of Operation Sadbhavana the Indian Army through their “Good Will Schools” has been making a sincere and dedicated effort to provide quality education and all round development to the children belonging to the under privileged sections of society in far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
In furtherance of this objective “Pine Wood School”, Hamirpur under the aegis of the Bhimber Gali Brigade organized an inter school sports and cultural festival from      29 Nov 11 to 02 Dec 11.  A number of local schools from Poonch and Rajouri district participated in the event.
The aim of the interaction programme was to foster a healthy environment of competition and encourage talent.  

Army organises national integration tour for ladies

UDHAMPUR: Under aegis of 7 Sector RR/ Kilo Force a National Integration tour was organized by 6 RR Bn(SIKH) for ladies of Ramhal Block. Often overlooked in routine tour projects, the unit took the onus to organize this tour exclusively for ladies. 
 
The tour comprised of twenty ladies from different walks of life who had been carefully selected from over hundred aspirants of Ramhal region. Tour was flagged off by Commander, 7 Sector Rashtriya Rifles from Phorupet on 21st Nov 2011. 
 

PROJECT HIMANK CELEBRATES SILVER JUBILEE

 LEH: Project Himank, aptly known as ‘Mountain Tamers’ was raised on 04 Dec 1985 at Leh exclusively for the development of road communication in Ladakh region, which, till 1960 was connected with the rest of India only by mule tracks.

“The Mountain Tamers” became the pathfinders in the land of “Mountains and Monks.” The tough terrain, hard rocks, jagged snow clad peaks and sub zero temperatures were the challengers that the Pioneers of Himank thrived on.  Selfless and dedicated efforts of these pioneers, as well as those who followed, have made Project Himank a respected name, not only in Ladakh, but in rest of the country too. 

Army organizes tour for Moulvis of Bandipur

BANDIPUR: An Educational tour for Moulvis of Bandipur District, J&K being organized by  3 MADRAS Regiment of 81 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo) was  flagged off by Mr Nizamuddin Bhatt, MLA Bandipur and Brigadier Anil Puri, Commander 81 Mountain Brigade in a grand function at Chatarnar play ground amidst dignitaries from political, civil administration, education, Police and Army.

Army organizes lecture on ration card

BHADERWAH: A lecture on Ration Card was conducted at village Trawn on  01 Dec 2011 by troops of Rashtriya Rifles.  A strength of 40 persons attended the same.   
 
The lecture on Ration Card was well received by the audience and they found it to be very informative. The lecture highlighted the importance, types and method of preparation of Ration Card.   
 

World AIDS Day celebrated

JAMMU: A symposium and exhibition was organized at Raina Auditorium on 01 Dec 2011 to commemorate the celebration of World AIDS Day 2011. 
 
The aim of organizing the symposium and exhibition was to spread awareness about AIDS, mode of transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and its prevention amongst the Army personnel and the families in the sector. A team of doctors from 150 General Hospital conducted the symposium. 
 

Dagger Artillery brigade organizes ‘educational cum motivational’ tour

BARAMULLA:  A fifteen day long educational and motivational tour organized by 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) under aegis Dagger Artillery brigade was flagged off from Baramulla in which 25 students of Government Boys Higher Secondary Baramulla and Government High School, Deewan Bagh left for the tour to outside Kashmir Valley on Thursday.

The educational and motivational tour was to North Indian states like Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh and Dehradun was flagged off by Commander 19 Artillery Brigade Brigadier Ravi.
